Vettaiyan is Tamil action film written and directed by T. J. Gnanavel. It is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under Lyca Productions. The film stars Rajinikanth, alongside an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh and Dushara Vijayan.

The film was officially announced in March 2023 under the tentative title Thalaivar 170, being the 170th film of Rajinikanth as the lead actor, and the official title was announced in December 2023. Principal photography commenced in October 2023 in Chennai and followed with schedule's in Thiruvananthapuram, Tirunelveli and Mumbai. The film has have music composed by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography handled by S. R. Kathir and editing by Philomin Raj.
